CARDBOARD PLAYHOUSE THEATRE COMPANY
The Dancing Cavalier
The Dancing Cavalier is a vibrant musical parody and original homage to Singin’ in the Rain, layered with a whimsical time-travel twist via A Tale of Two Cities. It follows Pierre, a passionate young tap dancer from the 1920s, who comes to New York chasing stardom. After heartbreak and rejection, he finds a dusty Dickens novel backstage — and WHAM! — he's transported into Revolutionary France, smack in the middle of a love triangle, a masquerade ball, and a villain called Rouge Noir of the Purple Terror.
The show flows from razzle-dazzle Broadway numbers to swordfights at midnight, with musical sequences ranging from golden-age Broadway to Beastie Boys-inspired revolution chants. It's at once classic and contemporary — a love letter to musicals, history, and the power of performance to transcend time.
