CARDBOARD PLAYHOUSE THEATRE COMPANY
STORY
In just one week, between rehearsals, Show Choir, musical theatre classes, improv classes for kids, and all our adult improv workshops, we’ve had over 120 students come through the Cardboard Playhouse Training Center.
And honestly?
We’re feeling pretty dang proud of that.
Cardboard Playhouse Theatre Company: Home Project
We’re growing. The community is growing. The demand is growing. And… we’ve officially run out of space. For years — ever since Cardboard Playhouse had to kick Cardboard Playhouse out of The Box because there was literally no more room for Cardboard Playhouse — we’ve been a nomadic theatre company.
Like… 10–15 years of moving from place to place, loading trucks, unloading trucks, squeezing shows into whatever space we could get. And we finally said: Enough. It’s time.
So we’ve been actively, seriously, aggressively looking for a permanent home for Cardboard Playhouse. It’s been stressful, time-consuming, frustrating, exciting — all at the same time. But… we do have a location we’re currently exploring. And for the first time, we’re feeling very, very positive about it. If everything lines up — the numbers, the timing, the support — then by this summer, we may finally have a permanent home.
And if, for some reason, this spot doesn’t work out?
We keep looking. Because we are done being nomads.
And that’s where you come in. We’re going to be turning to all of you — our community, our families, our alumni, our supporters — because we’re going to need help making this dream happen.
We’re bringing back our Building Fund. This campaign will help us get through that crucial first year — the year where we transition into a true home for youth theatre, creativity, and community.
Because honestly…
It’s about time.
We deserve this.
Our kids deserve this.
Our audiences deserve this.
And we’re ready.
Imagine:
No more loading U-Hauls.
No more dragging sets across the city.
No more “Hey, which space are we rehearsing in today?”
A home.
Our home.
Now — don’t worry — we will continue doing our Summer Series at Rodey because we absolutely love that space and that team. But besides that?
We are manifesting something huge.
The board is excited.
We’re excited.
And we are incredibly grateful to all of you for helping us push this forward. So yes — big news.
Big changes.
Big dreams are finally coming true.
Thank you for the decade of experiences, confidence-building, heart-break, joy, laughter and growth for Olivia! We are so grateful that she got to grow up in such a safe, empowering environment ❤️
