Ready to take the stage and make people laugh? This class is perfect for teens who love performing and want to explore the art of comedic storytelling. Through fun games and creative exercises, you’ll learn to think on your feet, build hilarious scenes, and shine in a supportive, collaborative environment. Perfect for young actors looking to add improv to their skillset or anyone eager to try something new and exciting!
Your Instructor
Charles Herrera
Charles has been a lifelong improviser since birth and began formal improv training in 2018 at The Box in Albuquerque, NM. Since then he has also trained at The Second City Traning Center and iO Theater in Chicago. In 2021 he was made a cast member of The Show, house improv team at The Box and recently began instructing improv through The Box’s class offerings.
He has experience teaching children through his job in an after-school program, where he is able to personalize the curriculum to their unique passions and desires. In 2023, through the program, he started a Comedy Club in which he is able to introduce the elementary age kids to many aspects of performing comedy including pratfalls, spit takes and has even successfully guided them in writing and performing their own song, Time For Lunch, a parody of Shake It Off by Taylor Swift
You may have seen him performing live in the made-for-children’s stage show, Aurora and the Great Unfreeze, where he played the role of Guert Hinkers, the Arctic Fox, and also puppeteered/voiced the kid favorite character, Lumpy the Narwhal
